Stefan Schmidt is the Managing Director and Co-Founder of IC.OS Partners GmbH. Stefan is a seasoned Investment and Finance Professional with 20 years of international experience. Until recently, he was as a Senior Vice President and Head of Valuation at a Middle Eastern Sovereign Wealth Fund with USD 140bn AUM, where he oversaw Asset and Portfolio Management activities during the last 5 years.
At the start of his professional career, Stefan became a qualified banker in a 2 year apprenticeship at Bayerische Landesbank in Munich in 1996 and continued working as a banker for HypoVereinsbank in Germany and US. He studied Business Administration at University in Regensburg, where he graduated as Diplom-Kaufmann in 2002.
From 2002 until 2010, he worked as a Corporate Finance Advisor for KPMG in Germany, where he became an expert in the valuation of companies, assets and investment portfolios for various purposes (e.g. transactions, restructurings, accounting) including business planning, financial modelling and Value Creation strategies, combined with solid finance and accounting know how. In 2010, Stefan was seconded as a Senior Manager to KPMG UAE on a 2-year exchange program to establish and lead a valuation team in Abu Dhabi whilst working on various large scale transaction and restructuring engagements. At EY in Abu Dhabi, Stefan served as a Director in the Transaction Advisory Services team between 2012 and 2013. As a result of his long-term Expat deployment in the UAE, Stefan has developed a profound appreciation of the Middle East in its economic, business and cultural facets.
As an experienced advisor to Senior Managements (CFO’s and Chief Investment Officers), he possesses an invaluable understanding of the various perspectives and expectations of investors, bankers, consultants and the senior leaders of a large corporation.
Stefan attended Private Equity and Venture Capital Executive Management Trainings at Harvard Business School and obtained a Diploma in International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
